Blua: Innovation and excellence for all customers

On 1 October, Sanitas took a major step forward in improving its customer service.

With Blua para Todos, the Blua digital ecosystem was made available — free of charge — to the entire customer base. This means all Sanitas customers now have access to the most innovative digital prevention, diagnosis, and care services, ensuring exclusive, agile and personalised healthcare — whenever and wherever they need it.

SANITAS HOSPITALES

Sanitas is redefining hospital care by combining state-of-the-art technology and digitalised services with personalised, human-centred care. This forward-looking model enables us to meet growing healthcare demand through the incorporation of advanced operating theatres, innovative diagnostic solutions, and greater response efficiency —supported by our central laboratory, which has now completed its first full year of operation.

2024 has been the year in which we laid the foundations for the future of hospital care. A network of centres that will double in size over the next five years, offering preventive, predictive, precise, personalised, and participatory medicine. A new hybrid care model that combines the best in-person care with the advantages of digitalisation to support the health of both patients and professionals.

Expanding our network

These openings are part of Sanitas’ expansion plan, which includes the upcoming launch of Hospital Marina in Barcelona in 2027, the addition of new dental clinics, and the opening of residential care centres —further reinforcing our commitment to delivering comprehensive, high-quality healthcare.

Upcoming hospital openings:

  • Marina Hospital (Barcelona)

Sanitas and MAPFRE have joined forces to create a new hospital in Barcelona’s 22@ District, scheduled to open in 2027. As the first private general hospital in the area, it will feature over 120 beds, ICU units, and operating theatres, serving both insured and private patients. The hospital will occupy a 17,800 m² office building currently being adapted for its new use, with an investment of over €77 million.

Hospital Marina will enhance the city’s healthcare offering, create more than 1,200 jobs, and serve over 200,000 people annually. With a focus on sustainability and advanced technology, it will contribute to the development of the area and the improvement of quality, becoming a benchmark in both healthcare and digital services.

  • Sanitas Arganzuela Hospital (Madrid)

Sanitas will open its seventh hospital in Spain —Sanitas Arganzuela— in 2028, in southern Madrid. With an investment of €80 million, the hospital will span more than 19,500 m² and include 80 beds, a 24-hour emergency department, ICUs, operating theatres and outpatient clinics. The building will run on 100% renewable electricity and feature a low-emissions design, aligned with Sanitas’ environmental commitments.

  • Hospital Sanitas Portitxol (Palma de Mallorca)

Sanitas and MAPFRE will again partner to open a second joint hospital —this time in Palma de Mallorca— in 2029. Spanning over 15,000 square metres, the hospital will comprise 58 rooms, two of which will be isolation rooms, with a total of 89 beds, including six in the ICU. There will also be 11 emergency bays, five state-of-the-art operating theatres and two endoscopy rooms. The hospital will also offer 50 consulting rooms for different medical specialities, as well as 10 rooms for physiotherapy and dental services. The new Sanitas Portitxol Hospital will serve more than 150,000 patients each year in an area with limited healthcare infrastructure. This facility will therefore play a vital role in providing essential services to local residents and neighbouring municipalities in the eastern part of the city.

  • Integrated healthcare centre in Córdoba

Sanitas will open its first integrated centre in Córdoba in 2027 —an innovative complex combining medical, dental and residential care in a single location. With an investment of €25 million, the centre will offer over 15 medical and surgical specialities, including an operating theatre, endoscopy room and MRI scanner. It will also house a state-of-the-art dental clinic and a care home for older adults with 120 beds, designed to deliver comprehensive and personalised care.

This project responds to the growing demand for healthcare services in Córdoba. It will expand the city’s care offering and improve the quality of life of its residents. The centre will be a benchmark in health care, combining advanced technology, artificial intelligence, and a multidisciplinary approach to deliver top-quality medical and dental services.

  • Advanced rehabilitation centres

Sanitas has expanded its healthcare network in Madrid and Barcelona with the opening of new centres in both cities. A new Advanced Rehabilitation Centre has opened in Valdebebas, Madrid, covering 300 m². It offers specialised treatments in physiotherapy, podiatry, psychology, and physical and rehabilitation medicine. The centre is equipped with advanced technologies such as ultrasound-guided invasive physiotherapy, TECAR therapy, high-intensity magnetic stimulation, and high-power laser therapy.

  • New Provença medical centre

The newly opened Provença Medical Centre in Barcelona spans 2,000 m² and houses 19 consulting rooms dedicated to more than 20 medical and surgical specialities. In addition to an Advanced Rehabilitation Centre offering state-of-the-art physiotherapy, podiatry, psychology and rehabilitation medicine services, the centre has a surgical unit with an ambulatory major surgery area, an endoscopy room, and an advanced imaging unit featuring MRI, mammography, ultrasound and conventional X-ray.

Mi Salud Genómica

Sanitas has launched a pioneering preventive medicine programme focused on genome sequencing and analysis —one of the largest of its kind in Europe.

Developed in collaboration with parent company Bupa, the programme aims to prevent and treat genetically predisposed conditions —such as certain types of cancer and type 2 diabetes— using personalised insights based on analysis of the human genome. In its first phase, the programme will sequence over 14,000 genomes, including 10,300 in Spain, supported by a multidisciplinary team of doctors, nutritionists and psychologists.

SANITAS DENTAL

Innovation is key to staying at the forefront of dental care. In a field where technological advances are constantly transforming treatments, digital dentistry has become essential for delivering care with the highest precision and quality. This digital transformation enables us to provide comprehensive oral healthcare with a preventive and conservative approach, delivering more predictable outcomes with less invasive procedures.

At the forefront of senior care

  • Alexa smart properties for senior living

Through voice commands, residents can easily access their medical agenda and daily activities, listen to music, stimulate their minds with cognitive games, or communicate with their loved ones —all while maintaining full privacy and without the need for additional devices.

  • Vital signs carts

Equipped with advanced technology, these devices enable rapid and precise monitoring of five vital parameters at any point in the facility. They improve medical care and allow continuous health tracking, with results shared promptly and accurately with families via the Sanitas Mayores app.

  • Immersive room

An interactive environment where residents can enjoy fully immersive sensory experiences —such as exploring underwater landscapes, virtually touring cities, or reliving personal memories through digital reality— designed to promote emotional wellbeing and cognitive stimulation.

  • New app

A digital tool that simplifies the management of additional services with just one click and improves communication between residents, families, and care teams. It also features an integrated messaging system and updated internal switchboards to streamline communication within the centre.

  • Fisio digital

Sanitas launched this service to prevent injuries and treat symptoms affecting various areas of the body. Through a dedicated app, patients can access online preventive, therapeutic, and physical rehabilitation exercises. An integrated AI system monitors posture, offers real-time corrections, and tracks the patient’s progress —ensuring a more accurate and personalised treatment experience.

  • Digital cognitive stimulation

Sanitas Mayores has launched a digital cognitive stimulation tool designed for people with neurological conditions as well as users with or without cognitive decline. This solution offers personalised exercises focused on memory, language and other cognitive functions, adapting to each person’s level and enabling detailed progress tracking. It also promotes social interaction through group-based activities, and is integrated into an innovative therapeutic approach alongside interventions such as music therapy and robotic pets.
